Overweight – Weight Loss,Diet, Health, Fitness, And Eating Disorders: 7 Steps To Taking Control Of It All With The Ultimate Self Help Book

Weight Loss

Reprogramming the Overweight Mind: 7 Steps to Taking Control of Your Subconscious has become the definitive book for behavior change. It is the ultimate self help book because all of the documents necessary to perform a clinical study are contained within an included Audio/Data CD. When psychologists, physicians, or psychiatrists ask me to prove my book is the definitive document for behavior change, I am happy to accommodate.

Since its introduction into psychiatric care in 1990 Burris MIND/FITNESS has established itself as the only clinically proven process for behavior change and has been endorsed by all psychologists, physicians, and psychiatrists who have evaluated it.

7 Steps to Taking Full Control of all Behaviors, not just Weight Loss, Diet, Health, Fitness, & Eating Disorders

Step 1 – The Emotional Checklist
Burris MIND/FITNESS is based on the reality that all behavior is emotionally driven. The Emotional Checklist establishes a baseline by which you can measure your results from day to day, week to week, month to month or year to year.

Step 2 – Subconscious Perspective & Empowering Questions
On the first page of the program process you will literally put your subconscious on paper and discover what brings about a behavior at the deepest level of the subconscious. It is imperative that you know what the subconscious is doing because the subconscious mind runs approximately four times faster than the conscious mind and right now you have virtually no idea what the subconscious is doing. All responses from the Subconscious Perspective are turned into Empowering Questions.

Step 3 – Subconscious Self-Image
If you set a goal that has to do with a change of your physical image without restructuring the image in your subconscious, your chances of success are at best remote. It is like wearing clothes that do not fit, you are never comfortable. This discomfort will lead you back to where you began. There will never be a more important image you have in your subconscious mind or a more important image that you will need to change than the image you have of yourself right now.

Step 4 – The Stop & Replace System
This is the most powerful part of the program. The Stop and Replace System will allow you to make an assault on any subconscious programming you wish to change and make dramatic changes in your emotional state and behavior. All the elements from the first three pages of the program are used on this page to help you Recognize, Access and Change subconscious programming that simply does not work.

Step 5 – The Heart of MIND/FITNESS
The Heart of MIND/FITNESS consists of your Love, Health, Wealth, and Self Image. Once you understand how to take control of your emotional state and behavior, it is necessary that you use these skills on a daily basis. The way you process information can be dramatically changed in a short period of time, simply by consistently implementing The Heart of MIND/FITNESS.

Step 6 – Food & Fitness Planner
Getting consistent control of your emotional state includes consistent control of what you eat, drink, and the type and amount of exercise you get. It is important to plan your food and fitness schedule because the process of an unconscious assault on the body with food, alcohol, or drugs can start a day or even days before you indulge in a behavior that will throw you completely off course and out of control. Planning your food and fitness schedule is a big part of reprogramming these behaviors, and you need to plan them until it becomes automatic.

Step 7 – The Trance-Formation
The most powerful guided meditation you will ever experience is on an Audio/Data CD that is included with the book. The dialogue used during the meditation is specific to you based on the first six steps of the program. What you say to yourself is more important than anything anyone will ever say to you or about you. Once you have learned the dialogue of the induction, you can use this to put yourself in a relaxed state that will allow you greater control over all your subconscious processes.

Regardless of weather your health goal is a change in diet for weight loss, an increase in your fitness program or to take control of an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. In the end the question you need to ask yourself is…Am I completely happy with the mind running itself or do I need to take control of it? If your answer is I need to take control of it, then Burris MIND/FITNESS is the answer.

Read or download and post the first two chapters of the book on your web site, listen to the first track of the Audio/Data CD or become a Certified Burris MIND/FITNESS Life Coach by going to http://KellyBurris.com. Kelly Burris has spent the last 20 years in the development of Burris MIND/FITNESS and is the author of the new self help book Reprogramming the Overweight Mind: 7 Steps to Taking Control of Your Subconscious.

Go From Hangover to Brunch-Ready in 5 Mins

http://themakeupblogger.com/go-hungover-brunch-ready-5-mins/

Photo via Zoe Report

Your phone alarm is blaring in your ear after a late night of tequila shots, you’re hungover, and to top things off, you’re late for brunch!  Fear not.  It’s me, your Hangover Godmother.  It’s my job to shed light on some of the tougher predicaments in life (like this one), and you’re going from Lucy Lush to looking alive.  Now, shake it off and wobble over to the bathroom.   I’ll take you from “hangover” to “brunch-ready” faster than an Uber can arrive at your door.

hungover to brunch 2

  1.   Put A Patch On It
After a quick face wash, try Eyeko Hydrogen Eye Patches to calm that nasty swelling under your eyes.  If possible, keep your eye remedies in the fridge in case of an Apocalypse (and because the cooling effect never fails).  Make sure to use gel applications–not paper–since the weight helps mold fine lines, and gel will transfer coolness better onto your skin.  Keep these on as you scurry around to make yourself look presentable. P.S.  If eye patches are too fussy for you, Milk Makeup Cooling Water also does the damn deed.

Hangover_Step 2

  1.  Electrolytes or Bust
Step away from the mug!  You’ll hate me now and thank me later, but drenching your dehydrated body in coffee is not the answer.  Instead, make some lemon water and start guzzling.  Upgrade this detox by taking two Activated Charcoal pills, the holy grail detoxer.  Pressed Juicery has a charcoal lemonade (charcoal+lemonade=multi-tasking win) if glorified $8 juices are your thing.  Some juicers even add a pinch of cayenne or sea salt for an extra kick of energy.  But if your throbbing headache calls for Advil, bring it with you to brunch since you shouldn’t take it on an empty stomach.

Hangover_Step 3

  1. Smize Yourself
Pretty sure we’ve all said it, “Even if my house is on fire, I’m not leaving without my eyebrows.”  Variations on this phrase include subbing “eyebrows” with “winged eyeliner.”  Well, today your proverbial house is on proverbial fire, so you have all the permission to proceed with your smize ritual (region includes brows, eyeliner, and lashes)–just be quick!   NYX Micro Brow Pencil is a brow filler, eyeliner, and also has a spoolie attached.  Your nimble finger movements are now maximized with just one tool!  It’s also light enough to layer on quick brush strokes and you don’t have to worry about going too dark with your shaky hungover hands.  For lashes, the wand on Maybelline Volum’ Express The Mega Plush Mascara is ridiculous and the fine bristles REALLY get in there for every lash when you’re in a time crunch.  The gel-mousse formula holds your curl like a boss.

Hangover_Step 4

  1.    Nothing To See Here, People
You’ve had your eye patches on this whole time, right? Okay, NOW you can take them off.   Your undereyes are a perfectly hydrated canvas for MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer with opaque full coverage and sun protection.  If you prefer a full face of application,  It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream SPF 50, is more sheer, so you can liberally apply this all over.  With every dab of concealer, you’re basically washing away the evidence and sins of last night.  Consider this a baptism, girl.

Hangover_Step 5

  1.   Channel Khaleesi
Highlighter may as well be pixie dust with all of its magical light deflecting qualities, am I right?  You’re just a few swipes away (use your finger) from fake and glowy radiance.   Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal is a close match to the coveted and SOLD-OUT-EVERYWHERE Becca x Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop.    You know the drill: under the browline, inner eye corners, cupid’s bow, and above the cheekbone.  Say it with me: “I will do what queens do.  I will rule.”

Photo via Byrdie

  1.  Lip Service, At Your Door
Glossier brags that Generation G lip stains are so perfectly pigmented that “no liner, no blotting, no YouTube tutorial necessary.”  It’s light enough to apply with a minimum of precision, but vibrant when you layer up.   Pick one of their darker shades (Crush or Jam) for a much needed pop of color to offset the dullness of your hangover.  Pro tip:  Apply and blend to your cheekbones.  Now swipe that ish on your lips as you run out the door because ain’t nobody got time for mirrors.

New and old ghostbusters

http://themakeupblogger.com/new-and-old-ghostbusters/

The tide is turning. Ghostbusters has been re-made. A reboot, by director Paul Feig, features four fantastic ghostbusting babes: Kristen Wiig (whom Feig directed in Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (of Feig’s Spy), Kate McKinnon (SNL’s secret weapon for the last couple of years), and Leslie Jones (in Trainwreck and whose comedy resume goes back further than all the rest). Sounds fantastic, no?

Well, not to some fan boys out there. The movie promotion began about a year ago and its bold cast of ladies has been forced to stare down an abyss of misogyny from the get-go. The backlash began with Ghostbuster fanboys waging an all-out internet war against the new movie, starting with giving its trailer nearly a million thumbs down on YouTube in a weird cyber-attempt to depress enthusiasm and sales. Despite Hollywood’s thriving history with remakes, there are vocal complaints that one will ruin the original and could ruin Ghostbro childhoods.

Melissa McCarthy’s response in The New York Times crystallizes why we love her and want to hang out with her all day: “I think their childhood was pretty much ruined already. If this broke it, it was pretty fragile to begin with. It is good to remember, it is a tiny, tiny fraction that screams. Normal, healthy people don’t stand outside, saying, ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’

According to The Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film, females comprised only “22% of protagonists in the top 100 films in 2015” (which is sadly a big improvement over previous decades). So isn’t it time we had a female version of Ghostbusters? Hasn’t the box office proven that women are funny and can carry big movies? Director Paul Feig has weighed in on this, and seems as perplexed as we are: “I just don’t understand why it’s ever an issue anymore. I’ve promoted both Bridesmaids and The Heat and [we] are still hit constantly with the question, will this answer the question of whether women can be funny? I really cannot believe we’re still having this conversation.”

Neither can we.

All it takes is seeing the faces of little girls, dressed as mini-ghostbusters, greeting Kristen Wiig at the movie’s recent premiere to know that this gender switcheroo is right, and good, and long overdue. These girls will soon become women, and they will expect more female stories, as they pass their Ghostbusters gear down to their daughters. So whether it’s a hit or not (and given Feig’s and his cast’s track records at the box office, it’s got a good shot), Ghostbusters is making history.

We mean HERstory.

Because guess what? It’s 2016 and we are going to slime the ghosts. We are going to slip out of our Hollywood imposed bikinis and into our Ghostbusting jumpsuits (or designer rompers), if we damn well choose.

And yes, we are going to spray our highly-charged proton particles all over Manhattan. Our time has come. Get out of the way.

Ghostbusters, anyone?

L’Oreal Infallible Matte Max FX Lip Colour Pen Swatches

L’Oreal Infallible Matte FX Lip Colour/L’Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lip Pen

L’Oreal Infallible Matte FX Lip Colour/L’Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lip Pen

L’Oreal Infallible Matte FX Lip Colour (
L’Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lip Pen in the UK) are innovative lipstick “powders” and interesting ones at that! These lip powders are housed in containers with a pull out “wand” and the powder pressed beneath (which prevents a crazy amount of fall out) As these lipstick powders are pressed these apply to the lips quit evenly and smoothly and have quite a creamy formula despite feeling like an obvious powder on the lips. The finish is very matte and powder like but parts of the natural lips do shine through, give them some dimension. In terms of pigmentation these lean on the light to medium side but can be built up for a more intense effect. These do have decent staying power but reapplication is required after a few hours and eating or drinking. Even though these don’t compare in terms of long wear to the L’Oreal Infallible 2-Step Long Wear Lipsticks these are a great item to use over the top for a matte finish. All in all I quite like these lip powders, I think they are a great idea and I’d love to see more brands adapt this type of product. They aren’t rave worthy but they do have some nice shades and are good for something different.

L’Oreal Infallible Matte FX Lip Colour Swatches 001 Silencio, 002 Like a Virgin, 004 Oops I Pink It Again, 006 Disturbia, 007 Say My Name, 008 I Gotta Feeling

L’Oreal Infallible Matte FX Lip Colour Swatches 001 Silencio, 002 Like a Virgin, 004 Oops I Pink It Again, 006 Disturbia, 007 Say My Name, 008 I Gotta Feeling

001 Silencio is a brown based nude with golden shimmer, this shade would suit light to dark skintones.

002 Like a Virgin is a pale, pinky nude with a tiny amount of shimmer, this shade would suit light skintones.

004 Oops I Pink It Again is a rosy, red based pink with no shimmer. This shade would suit light to medium skintones.

006 Disturbia is an orange based red with no shimmer, this shade is less pigmented than other shades in the range. This shade would look great on medium to deep skintones.

007 Say My Name is a bold, cherry red shade with no shimmer. This shade was the most pigmented in the range and applied the most evenly. This would flatter light to medium skintones.

008 I Gotta Feeling is a dark berry purple shade with no shimmer. Despite being so bold this shade was the most disappointing out of the range not only was it on the more sheer side but it also had application difficulties and had a tendency to exaggerate dryness and lines on the lips. This shade would look amazing on medium to deep skin.

Spotlight: The work of Pati Dubroff, Charlize Theron’s makeup artist

http://themakeupblogger.com/pati-dubroff-charlize-therons-makeup-artist/

At the tender age of 10, she began playing with makeup, applying it on family members and friends. Pati Dubroff went on to assist Bobbi Brown at New York Fashion Week in the 80s and became Francois Nars’ main assistant around the same time. She has ascended the ranks of Hollywood’s glam squad to become one of the IT makeup artists for the IT girls. Her client roster is a Who’s Who of glamazons, such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Margot Robbie, Natalie Portman, Gisele Bünchen, among others. You get the idea.

Her longtime client, Charlize Theron, asked her to work on The Huntsman: Winter’s War, where she played Queen Ravenna, which marked Pati’s first feature film project. (A refreshing reminder: there’s a first time for everything—even seasoned veterans.) Although the world is her oyster, Dubroff’s artistry mostly graces magazine covers, advertising campaigns and the red carpet, all gigs that require less time away from her family than film and television projects.

Over the years, Pati and Charlize have developed a collaborative relationship; trust has been cultivated and it allowed them to create many mesmerizing makeup looks for The Huntsman (think of them as beautiful editorial makeup looks on the big screen). Pati is no stranger to the power of makeup, but for this particular project, that power became dramatically heightened as Queen Ravenna became more and more evil. Even extending a dark brown shadow from the eye crease to the nose–creating a hook-like effect–makes Theron’s face appear more menacing .

Photo courtesy, Patrick Demarchelier for Vogue

Photo courtesy, Patrick Demarchelier for Vogue

Before shooting one particular scene, Charlize had a dream that Queen Ravenna had gold flakes on her eyes. Pati swiftly obtained gold flakes from another department on set (purchased from an art supply store) and expertly secured the flakes around Charlize’s eyes with Lucas’ Paw Paw ointment and Homeoplasmine Balm, which also creates a subtle glistening effect. Dubroff says she has seen makeup tutorials that try to replicate this look using eye lash glue instead, of which she disapproves, noting “it’s too heavy and dense”. This seemingly insignificant insight is what separates the makeup queens from the princesses.

You can see the aforementioned golden regal makeup makeup tutorial by Pati here:

Like most of us, Pati is obsessed with good skin. For her clients, she’ll prep the skin with Bioderma and sometimes uses a Biocellulose restorative sheet mask, if necessary. Next comes an application of a rich moisturizer on the high points of the face, such as the cheek bones while keeping the rest of the face lightly moisturized–or even on matte side–to ensure the makeup application lasts longer. Even the genetically-gifted require work for their glamorous game faces, so her secret sauce is to spend around 20 minutes on the skin—blending various concealers and foundations in multiple colors with brushes, fingers and sponges. The key is to make skin flawless and makeup undetectable.

At home, she is also religious about her own skincare regimen and has a bathroom exploding with beauty products to prove it. Admittedly, she doesn’t wear much makeup because she is so busy and says her clients can find it off-putting when an artist comes in with a full face of makeup. Note, if you have any aspirations to assist Pati: save your cat eye for GNO.

To see the range of makeup looks created by Pati for Charlize Theron, check out The Huntsman: Winter’s War which is now available on DVD and Blue-Ray and includes outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage.

I tried ClassPass to get back into my fitness groove. Here’s what happened….

http://themakeupblogger.com/tried-classpass-get-back-fitness-groove-heres-happened/

Photo via Les Exploratrices

First, I need to be honest about my fitness: I’m NOT a natural athlete. I’ve had my ups and downs on the treadmill of health, but I’ve always found working out to be a chore.  I envy the Fit Girls of Instagram (you know who you are)—the ladies who religiously meal prep, who can squat better than J. Lo, and who wear performance athleisure like they were born in it.  You make it look so easy…and fun.  Even in my fittest phase (I used to run marathons), I’d still have to trick myself into working out.  So when I was looking for a way to kickstart my fitness routine (again), I tried ClassPass.  Founded by our girl crush, Payal Kadakia, a world-class dancer and MIT grad whose enduring love for dance inspired her to get others to find their workout groove.  With a million varieties of classes to try, why not shake things up? ClassPass allows you to studio hop with fitness classes in your area and customize your workout regimen. The classes range from yoga and pilates, to boxing, Crossfit and pole dancing class. Here’s what I learned:

Spin Class Is My Leg Day

Last time I checked, everyone hates Leg Day.  Spin was my leg day workout, and oh man, that sucked.  My past relationship with spin included pretending to increase the tension on my bike while I sipped my coconut water. This time around using ClassPass, my secret to making spin tolerable was eating a banana with peanut butter beforehand, while downing all the blue Gatorade I could get my hands on. Though biking over “hills” is still the worst, I must admit that my toned calves aren’t complaining.

A Kick in the Asana

I started attempting yoga on my “lazy days.”  In fact, one of my first classes was with a room full of pregnant women, and I could have sworn we slept in the dark the entire hour.  But I slowly found yoga to be a cross between a really good workout and a relaxing hot tub (my vice on a Saturday night).   When I wanted to push myself, I added weights and went for Bikram-style yoga.  If I wanted to chill, I chose a restorative class.

Meet Me At The Barre?

Apparently uncontrollable shaking muscles means you’re doing barre right.  It took me all of 30 seconds of class to start dripping with sweat during a 5-minute plank.  For anyone who hasn’t taken barre, the instructor shouts precise and quick instructions that sound a little something like this: “And DOWN-and-tuck, and UP-and-tuck, and tuck-up, 2-3-4, tuck-DOWN 2-3-4.”  Meanwhile the students make minor isometric movements–so minor, you’re not even sure you can see yourself contracting.   It was really, really hard, but I eventually got into it.  I felt stronger almost immediately and was surprised how quickly each class flew by.  Also, with my personal affinity for ballerinas, posing against the mirrored walls was the closest I’d get to channeling the NYC ballet.  Dang, Misty Copeland, is that you?

My First Wellness Appointment

Depending on the city, ClassPass gives you a chance to make local wellness appointments that aren’t gym-related (infrared rooms, saunas, etc…).  I took advantage of a cryotherapy center, because hey, who doesn’t want to enter a nitrogen chamber naked for three minutes?  Cryo Tip: It’s as freezing as it sounds.  Although cryotherapy is supposed to reduce soreness and increase blood circulation, I’m not completely sure I’m on the bandwagon yet. It did, however, feel good after spin class.

Takeaways

Let’s address the obvious question:  Is ClassPass worth it?  Similar to other fitness programs, they offer introductory pricing to new members.  Depending on the city you reside in, the tiered pricing ranges from $65 for 5 classes a month, to $175 for unlimited use in LA/SF.  The expense is the same price tag as a weekend flight, or two-and-a-half trips to Whole Foods.  But some months, you might choose to invest in some Charlotte Tilbury skincare, and other times, it may mean buying a faster hard drive for your computer.  This month, it was my fitness, and my experience getting into ClassPass had an obvious payoff to me.  Boredom was always the culprit to my personal struggle with fitness.  But because ClassPass required me to hop around, meet new people, and try things I normally wouldn’t, it was anything but boring.  For the girls who hate working out–this one’s definitely for you.

I may never be a Fit Girl of Instagram.  But at least I’m into yoga now.  Though, I’m still totally pretending I know how to “find my vinyasa.”
